Payments

Bookings can be made via telephone by debit or credit card. A deposit of 25% of the current course fee is required to secure a place.

For courses under £500 the remaining course fee must be paid a minimum of 6 weeks prior to course commencement.

For courses over £500 a further 25% of the total course fee must be paid a minimum of 6 weeks prior to course commencement. A further 25% of the total course fee must be paid 2 weeks prior to course commencement with the remaining 25% of the total course fee paid within 2 weeks of course commencement.

Course payments are non-refundable.

Cancellations and transfers

If, for a genuine reason, a cancellation or transfer is necessary you are required to request this in writing. All requests will be considered and if accepted will be subject to a £100 administration fee.

Course times

Specific course times and dates are detailed within the course information sheet that can be downloaded from the courses section, a copy of this information sheet will be provided to you upon booking. Course sessions will start promptly and you are requested to advise us of any expected lateness or absences.

Course kits

Course kits, as detailed in the course information sheets, are purchased by students and are necessary for all sessions and we accept no responsibility for loss or damage, therefore you are advised to label your items and check kit contents at the end of each session.

Uniform

All courses require professional uniform. NVQ students will be required to purchase and wear a Beauty Skills Academy tunic; other students can wear their own professional tunics. All students need to maintain a professional appearance within the salon and this includes, smart black trousers, flat, fully enclosed black shoes (not to be worn outside), hair tied back and short nails free from polish. Uniforms must be freshly laundered before each session.

Homework

To ensure you meet the necessary evidence requirements for your VTCT qualification practical and theory homework will be set by your tutor, submission dates will be agreed and must be met unless otherwise negotiated with your tutor on an individual basis.

Practical assessments

During your VTCT training you will practise treatments on other students, when you are competent your assessor will observe you working on paying members of the public, the Beauty Skills Academy will endeavour to provide sufficient clients for this purpose but cannot guarantee to do so therefore you are advised to ask friends and family to become potential models. All models must pay the treatment fee.

Health & safety

To ensure the health & safety of all our learners, visitors, clients and tutors students are not permitted to use any products or equipment that they have not been trained in or to work practically without permission of the course tutor. Everyone receiving treatments must comply with patch testing requirements and the results must be recorded. Students are to advise their course tutor immediately in the event of illness, mobility issues or pregnancy so that we can undertake risk assessments. Students have a responsibility to maintain health & safety.

Data Protection

The beauty skills Academy will keep data in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Students are required to manage data within the Act and are not permitted to remove any client data from the premises.

Complaints

If you are not totally satisfied with the service you receive please contact the academy manager who will endeavour to resolve your concerns immediately. If we are unable to resolve your complaint informally please put your concerns in writing and you will receive a written response within 5 business days.

Policies and codes of practice

Students must behave in a professional and responsible manner at all times. Mobile phones are not permitted within the teaching room unless a student has sought and been granted express permission. Failure to do so may result in dismissal from the course and no refund will be given. Equal opportunities policy, anti-bullying policy and a VTCT appeals procedure are in place.
