Suitable for school leavers and adults who have a keen interest in the beauty industry and are considering a career as a beauty therapist in a salon, spa, cruise ship or aesthetics clinic.

What is included in this course?

The following units will be studied, alongside Maths and English if necessary:

  • Provide facial skincare
  • Remove hair using waxing techniques
  • Provide eyelash & eyebrow treatments
  • Applying make-up
  • Health & Safety
  • Create an image
  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Provide pedicure treatments
  • Provide nail art
  • Instruction on make-up application
  • Salon reception
  • Client care & communication

This is an evidence based qualification and your work will be assessed by observation of practical performance, written assignments and multiple choice examinations.

Entry Requirements:

  • Ideally Grade 3 or D or above in English and Maths plus two GCSE Grade 3 or equivalent (BTEC).
  • Commitment to study Maths and English if GCSE Grade 4 or C has not yet been achieved.
  • Purchase of a uniform, full kit and text book prior to the course starting

Course Extras:

Alongside your Level 2 Diploma you may be able to complete enrichment activities such as;

  • Nail art, hair-up or gel polish.
  • Perform treatments on paying clients in our professional, realistic training environment

What can I progress to?

You may progress onto our Level 3 programmes, a college based diploma or an apprenticeship.

How much is the course?

The course is free for learners aged 16-18 on 31st August 2018.

Adults that are:

  • Are a citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) or other countries determined within the EEA, or Have the Right of Abode in the UK, or have been ordinarily resident in the EEA for at least the previous three years on the first day of learning.
  • A non-EEA citizen is eligible for funding if they have permission granted by the UK government to live in the UK, which is not for educational purposes, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of learning.

will be eligible for co-funding. The fee will be approximately £1800, payment to be made on induction.

  • This course may be free if you are unwaged and in receipt of certain benefits such as JSA, ESA or UC or have not yet achieved a level 2 qualification or equivalent. Please contact the academy to discuss.
