Suitable for school leavers and adults who have a keen interest in the beauty industry and are considering a career as a beauty therapist in a salon, spa, cruise ship or aesthetics clinic.

What is included in this course?

The following units will be studied, alongside Maths and English if necessary:

  • Health, safety and hygiene
  • Consultation techniques and client care
  • Manicure treatments
  • Pedicure treatments
  • Waxing services
  • Anatomy & physiology for beauty therapists
  • Facial treatments
  • Skin type analysis
  • Eyebrow shaping services
  • Eyelash and eyebrow tinting services
  • Make-up applications

This is a technical level qualification. Assessment is as follows;
Graded practical assessments 50%   Examinations 30%   Graded synoptic assessment 20%

Assessments are graded as Fail / Pass / Merit / Distinction.
The overall qualification is graded as Fail/Pass / Merit / Distinction / Distinction*

Entry Requirements:

  • Ideally Grade 3 or D or above in English and Maths plus two GCSE Grade 3 or equivalent (BTEC).
  • Commitment to study Maths and English if GCSE Grade 4 or C has not yet been achieved.
  • Purchase of a uniform, full kit and text book prior to the course starting

Course Extras:

Alongside your Level 2 Diploma you may be able to complete enrichment activities such as;

  • Nail art, hair-up or gel polish.

What can I progress to?

You may progress onto our Level 3 programmes, a college based diploma or an apprenticeship.

How much is the course?

The course is free for learners aged 16-18 on 31st August 2018.
Most adults will be eligible for funding if the learning is taking place in England and they:

  • Are a citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) or other countries determined within the EEA, or Have the Right of Abode in the UK, or have been ordinarily resident in the EEA for at least the previous three years on the first day of learning.
  • A non-EEA citizen is eligible for funding if they have permission granted by the UK government to live in the UK, which is not for educational purposes, and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of learning.
  • This course may be fully funded if you are unwaged and in receipt of certain benefits such as JSA, ESA or UC or have not yet achieved a Level 2 Qualification or equivalent.
  • This course will be co-funded for learners who are eligible for funding. The fee will be approximately £2000 Payment to be made on induction.
